Le parcours initiatique dans Diadorim de João Guimarães Rosa et Vendredi ou les limbes du Pacifique de Michel Tournier

Abstract : Our research consists of a comparative analysis of two contemporary novels wich bring up certain "primitive" rituals and myths. We would like to know about the motivations for this reasoning of "return to the origins" and the lesson it provides us; destined to surpass the human journey of incompleteness and violence. We think that it is necessary to search the being, the sense of existence, the fundamental unity which transcends polar opposites. This research touches on the study of thousands of years of knowledge. We use the alchemic and mythical approach to follow the initiatory journey. We will see that the symbol which is associated here allows us to describe the progression of characters of the liberation's suffering. This is made possible by a reconciliation of three sources ( Pagan, christian and modern ) which give rise to a new connection between man and himself, his fellow human beings and nature. The authors, in this attempt, invite the modern man to assume their part of the shadow to more easily free themselves and to finally experience Unity.
