Microcénoses des ambres médio-crétacés français. Taphonomie, systématique, paléoécologie et reconstitution du paléoenvironnement

Abstract : 1500 arthropods have been found in Mid-Cretaceous French ambers. Others inclusions (microorganisms) have also been found. Actinomycetes are very diversified The cyanobacterium Palaeocolteronema cenomanensis is the most frequent microorganism. The eukaryotes (Fungi, unicellular algae and protozoans) showed a great diversity. Some fossils were embedded in the resin on the tree bark, other when the resin fell down on the forest floor or when resin flows were produced by roots. The most spectacular is the discovery of marine microfossils, transported into the resin during high sea levels or by sprays. Complex trophic links existed in the Mid-cretaceous forest. Prokaryotes, fungi and few arthropods were saprotrophic. Amoebae and ciliates were bacterivores. Few Acari and Coleopterans were fungivores. Diverse Dipterans, Hymenopterans, Neuropterans, Heteropterans... were predators, and the food web was dominated by the spiders.
