The aim of this work is to define an electromagnetic model of the induction machine. It gives to electrical engineers and searchers the opportunity to use a tool more powerful than the traditional models. This approach offers great advantages like: - to save time compared to the use of a software of resolution by finite éléments, - to characterize the machine even when the magnetic circuit is saturated. The method employed to define that kind of model associâtes some results of a calculation software by finite éléments for various states of saturation, with the détermination of the parameters of the équivalent diagram thanks to the application of the vectorial diagram of the induction machine. In comparison with the analytical model which uses the détermination of the parameters by the geometry of the machine, this model takes account of their variation according to saturation and provides the performances of the machine whatever its magnetic state. In this memory, this approach is applied to the study and the sizing of a particular induction machine by its discoidal form and its use as a starter-alternator for motor car.
