Études de l'absorption à deux photons dans des matériaux organiques à l'aide de la technique dite de la lentille thermique

Abstract : This work concerns the implementation of the technique of “thermal lens” for the study of multiphoton absorption phenomena in organic materials. The technique of thermal lens used here a pump-probe technique where the pump beam is a pulsed laser (25ps, 532nm or 1064nm), while the probe beam is obtained from a continuous laser (He-Ne at 632nm). This technique is also related to the technique of z-scan in that the sample is moved to either side of the focal point of a converging lens disposed on the path of the pump beam. According to the report of the diameters of pump and probe beams, there are two main variants of the technique of thermal lens in pulsed regime: the variant known as "modematched (the diameters of the two beams are identical) and the variant" mode-mismatched (the diameters of the two beams are different). For reasons of simplicity of implementation and sensitivity, we chose the alternative modemismatched. This variant of the technique of thermal lens, having been little used, has been used to measure the coefficient and the cross section of two-photon absorption in different organic materials. These results are compared with measurements from other measurement technique as "non-linear transmission" or z-scan technique.
