Apports des modèles de neige CROCUS et de sol ISBA à l'étude du bilan glaciologique d'un glacier tropical et du bilan hydrologique de son bassin versant

Abstract : Tropical glaciers are located in a key area for the global climate dynamics and are therefore very good indicators of the climate variability. This PhD has aimed to distribute the energy balance models CROCUS (for snow and ice) and ISBA (for not snow-covered ground) on the glacier Zongo catchment (16°S, 3.3 km2, Bolivia), glacierezed at 63% and monitored by the GLACIOCLIM observatory. In this way, complete snow and meteorological data sets have been created for the period 01/09/2004 - 31/03/2006, with a particular attention paid to precipitation (phase and quantity). The CROCUS-ISBA model has been adapted in order to simulate the moraine transitory snowpack and results have been validated for several measurement sites. On the glacier, the CROCUS model realistically simulates the local mass balance estimated from ablation stakes. Then, the models have been extended to the whole catchment and fed with distributed meteorological parameters. The simulation of the glacier net specific mass balance has been validated by comparison with estimations from photogrammetry. The river flows at the catchement outlet and their seasonality are well caught by the model (the relative error on water quantity is 8% for the whole period and the daily flows Nash criterion reaches 0.63). Several results are discussed about the moraine run-off coefficient, the glacier contribution for each elevation slice and the catchment response to two contrasted wet seasons. This tool allows to better evaluate and understand the processes responsible for the melting over glacier and moraine and to assess their respective contributions to the local water resources.
