Quantification et caractérisation des mouvements verticaux aux courtes échelles de temps dans les zones dites stables

Abstract : Deformation at the Earth surface results from various geological processes. They are well studied at plate boundaries because of their high amplitudes. These processes are various in terms of amplitude, acting time, periodicity and spatial variability. However, it exists some regions where deformations, localized or diffuse, have lower but significant amplitudes once cumulated over long time periods. The aim of the study is to quantify and to characterize the ground motion into these low deformation areas at short time scales (several years), with several questions. Which strategy do we have to adopt to measure precisely these low deformations? How do we extract and filter the effects of some processes? How must we take into account the ocean tide loading and its local effects in the GPS processing? How can we correlate vertical ground motions with hydrogeological variations in aquifer areas? This study will try to give some answers to these questions, in a methodological and in a process point of view. We propose to quantify and to characterize present day ground motions in two areas with low deformation rate: the South of Brittany (France) and the Saïs plain in Morocco. The Brittany area is located on a passive margin, with moderate seismicity and high ocean tide amplitudes. Moreover, it is located above a crystalline fractured aquifer of Ploemeur. The area in Morocco is located between the active regions of Rif and Mid-Atlas and above a large-scale deep limestone aquifer.
