Etude du refroidissement par impact de jets à travers une paroi mince et avec un écoulement cisaillant amont : application aux aubes de turbines

Abstract : The need to improve turbofan eciency leads the engineers to increase the combustion gas temperature. Components such as turbine blades or vanes are exposed to high thermal stresses. Several cooling techniques are commonly used to maintain a temperature in the metal that not damage the vane. Internal jet impingement cooling is the method we studied in this thesis, with the intention to best reproduce the complex geometry of the industrial working case. This way, we considered an injection trough a thin plate feeded by an upstream crossow. This study consists in three experiments based on this type of injection, and convective heat transfer coecients are determined experimentally. In the rst part, we present experimental results from velocity and temperature measurements of a single jet impinging on a at plate. This conguration represents the heat transfer at the pressure/suction side of a vane. A second experiment deals with a row of ve jets impinging on a concave surface to study the eects of impingement on a curved surface, as in the leading edge region. Finally, a more complex conguration has been studied. This consists in a large scale model of a turbine blade. It is compound by a curved part on which impinges a nine jets row, and by two at parts on which impinge three rows of ve jets. The main parameters of the study are the nozzle-to-wall spacing and the Reynolds numbers of the jets and the upstream crossow.
