Aide à l'apprentissage du vocabulaire dans un environnement hypermédia en Français Langue Étrangère

Abstract : This PhD Thesis is a study of Help in vocabulary learning of French as a Foreign Language, using a hypermedia system. It is an “action research” based on the analysis and experimentation of language learning programmes, with the purpose of developing Help in CALL. It is a theoretical study on foreign language learning in general, from a didactical and psychological angle, as well as on vocabulary learning, on Help and on hypermedia environments. The data gathered under the SAM project (Learning Strategies and Multimedia), which concerns the use of CAMILLE: Travailler en France, is analysed for a better understanding of which elements may help towards vocabulary learning and understanding. The final part is about the development of a hypermedia module within the AMAL project (Multimedia Assistance in Language Learning). It is an analysis of the implementation of Help for the use of the programme, Help in vocabulary learning and understanding, and the conception of a “Vocabulary Resource” containing information on the words.
