Vieillissement électrique et thermique d'un composite résine époxyde-silice : étude des charges d'espace et de la conduction

Abstract : Organic insulating materials are widely studied to understand aging mechanisms and precursors to degradations. In this work, the behavior of an insulator submitted to thermal and electrical stresses is followed as concerns space charge generation and evolution and conduction mechanisms. The material is a composite based on a DGEBA-type epoxy resin. It is used in the matrix (un-filled) form or filled with silica flour at temperatures both below and above the glass transition temperature (Tg=65°C). Space charge generation at low dc electric fielc (2 kV/mm) was observed. The accumulation of charges injected from the electrodes at 55°C and the role of absorbed water in the generation of positive heterocharges at 80°C were evidenced. The study of conduction mechanisms showed that the current is limited by the bulk of the material below Tg (model of hopping conduction) whereas at 80°C the conduction current is described by a Schottky mechanism of injection at the electrodes. The characterization of samples aged under electrical and thermal stresses showed changes of the dielectric properties (e and tan d) during aging, especially at low frequencies.
