Émergence des auto-oscillations dans un instrument de musique à anche simple

Abstract : This document deals with the sound production in single reed woodwind instruments. Those are complex dynamical systems that can auto-oscillate within some conditions on the control of the musician. This work investigates the role of the cane reed in the outset of the acoustic field in the bore, due to its resonance and to the reed motion induced flow. The influence of this volume flow that is to be summed with the flow coming from the mouth is first used as a boundary condition of the acoustical problem. It causes the shift of the resonance frequency of this augmented bore. Then, oscillation threshold is studied using a linear stability analysis where the effect of a variety of phenomena is exhibited. Measurements on an artificial mouth are compared to this theory. A numerical tool to investigate auto-oscillations in reed instruments is presented. It turns available the computation of solutions for time-varying control parameters. It makes extensively use of the modal decomposition of the input impedance of the bore.
