Couplages algorithmes génétiques et TLM pour la conception des antennes imprimées miniatures

Abstract : To date, most new wireless antenna designs have been derived from existing canonical designs or have been developed through the careful application of engineering judgment, expertise and experience to meet required conditions. An efficient tools is therefore needed to help researchers to design automatically new optimal structures with specific goals. In this thesis, it is presented how to couple genetic algorithm with transmission line matrix method, it can be use to improve and optimize original and non intuitive small printed antenna design for use in mobile communication devices in order to satisfy the situation of huge demand and compressed development cycle for antenna design. We present about the transmission line matrix (TLM) method which is a well-known numerical technique in time-domain and efficient to model complex structures with arbitrary shapes. By use of parallel computing, Prony's method and a new TLM node for modeling PML layers, we have built an efficient TLM code which allows rigorous analysis of complex antennas with low CPU time. It is also demonstrated the search capability of genetic algorithms (GAs) for optimization. GAs are robust stochastic search method modeled on the principles of natural selection and evolution. The powerful heuristic of GAs as an optimizer is useful for solving complex combinational problems. By using the coupling GA/TLM, several printed antennas; broadband or multiband with different shapes; fill-patch, embedded-holes patch or embedded-slots patch, are obtained to fulfil WLAN and HIPERLAN2 standards. Others kinds of compact multiband antenna such as PIFA and monopolar wire-patch antenna, are also presented, fulfil some of GSM, DCS, PCS, UMTS, WLAN or HIPERLAN2 standard. These results show the ability of GA/TLM tools for successfully optimizing several sets of parameters which influence on performances of antenna characterisations. Performances of these antennas are experimentally validated with measurement of several prototypes.
