Le paléogène du revers oriental du massif du Pelvoux : stratigraphie, modalités de transgression, paléomorphologie, tectonique synsédimentaire et déformations alpines

Abstract : The Paleogene Cover of the Pelvoux massif (western external alpine zone, France) has been investigated from the Lautaret pass to the eastern Champsaur. The "Trilogie nummulitique" (l- limestones 2-marIs 3- sandstones) is transgressive both on a crystalline basement and remnant oucrops of mesozoic cover. In this later, there are evidences of antenummulitic faults. The discovery of a bartonian microfauna in the SE part of the massif and the paleogeographic restoration point out the diachronism of the transgression which progressed from S to N and from E to W. The omnipresent detritism observed in the series, results of both the existence of an antenummulitic embryonic Pelvoux, and the proximity of the interna! nappes which moved in the E part of the cenozoic basin. Moreover, olistolites are associated to Nl70 synsedimentary faults. In this area, the eocene paleogeography and the postnummulitic structuration result from the reactivation of triassic, liassic, cretaceous and/or paleocene faults. In the SE: 1 -basement fractures N50 trending (faisceau desGrésourières), were reactivated as right-lateral faults during the recent overthrust of the Sirac mount basement over the Mesozoic of the Morgessynclinej 2 -folds occured in the "Grès du Champsaur" 3 -a slaty cleavage appeared in the stretched "Marnes nummulitiques" 4 -important dissolutions in "Calcaires nummulitiques" occured. AlI these events must be related mainly to the emplacement of the internaI nappes on the Pelvoux massif. In the N, these facts were less important and only, some accidents N110 trending (faisceau du Lautaret) acted as left- lateral faults. In conclusion, the SE extremity of the crystalline Pelvoux massif acted as a tectonic indenter during the postnummulitic deformations .
