Etudes minéralogiques et pétrologiques sur les métamorphismes d'age alpin dans les Alpes francaises

Abstract : From West to East, Alpine metamorphic assemblages in the French Western Alps range as follows : anchizone, greenschist, law sonite- bearing, various Na amphiboles - bearing associations, jadeite + quartz - bearing, and finally eclogitic associations. These associations formed in different metamorphic phases, and at different times during the structural evolution. Thus, they partly overlap each other in time, and their distribution areas show an intricate pattern . The area which has been more especially studied from a mineralogical and petrological point of view, consists of part of two Pennine zones : the Briançon - Grand- Saint - Bernard zone, and the Piemont zone.
