Abstract : Depending on the applications under consideration and the number of degrees of freedom, two classes of systems are studied in this thesis. The first class of systems is described by nonlinear ordinary differential equations. The control laws follow a mixed discrete/continuous dynamics, and are called hybrid. The second class of systems are described by partial differential equations, and deal with distributed parameter systems. Results and applications are given for flexible structures and flow control in a network.
