Abstract : The use of computer-aided systems for implant placement in cancer patients could lead to a minimally invasive surgery, planification of the prosthetic result and thus, decrease the risk of osteoradionecrosis. The stabilization of the template should be as less invasive as possible to decrease the osseous trauma. Two non invasive repositioning systems are tested, one intra-oral and one extra-oral, coupled with a computer-aided system for oral implantology. The criteria for evaluation are: cost, accuracy, time for placement and removal, and 6 subjective criteria (ease of use and production, overload, comfort for the patient, stability during surgery, ergonomic). 9 patients were included; 2 implants were not placed. The prosthetic result was similar as planned. For the extra-oral system, the difference between planned and real implants was 6,04° (angular deviation), 2,14 mm at the tip of the implant and 2,16 mm at the base. For the intra-oral system, the difference was respectively 5,05°, 1,13 mm and 1,82mm. The time for placement and removal of the system was 7,6 minutes. The accuracy of the systems is worse than invasive systems, using miniscrews; the subjective evaluation is conforming to the criteria established. The use of these systems for extra-oral implants is currently developing.
