Matières et Techniques de la Préhistoire récente du Massif armoricain : pétrographie – géochimie – mécanique – technologies.

Abstract : During the Mesolithic and Neolithic in the armorican Massif, the diversity of rocks implies the development of several models of knapping and products management. The two first reasons to this variability are the geographical position of geological outcrops and the complexity of rocks structures and mechanical response. This diversity of rocks treatment assists the blossoming of the final Mesolithic cultures. The continuity between the regional faces who are the “Téviecien” and the “Retzien” derive from the one of subregional faces. The distance of rocks outcrops is restricted to an area of twenty kilometres for the acquisition of the major quantity of materials. During the Neolithic, the explosion of economic exchanges valorised the exploitation of flint, especially during the “Villeneuve-Saint-Germain” culture in Brittany. In the territory of the “Retzien”, the valorisation of local rocks is in relation to their place in the mesolithic's industries. The beginning of the second phase of the middle Neolithic is marked by the absence of use of allochthonous rocks for common material production. This fact is due to the arrival of new products. These new articles are more expensive and their rule in the communities is not limited to a common use. Then, the territories of exploration of rocks for the production of common material decrease.
