Dynamique des avalanches granulaires immergées: rôle de la fraction volumique initiale

Abstract : The aim of this thesis is to obtain a better understanding of geophysical flows like landslides. In those events, the coupling between the granular material and the fluid play an important role during the initiation. This thesis studies physical phenomenon during the initiation of underwater granular avalanches with an experiment and a model. The flow is shown to strongly depends on the initial volume fraction, its initiation being dramtically delayed by a slight initial compaction.
