Contribution à la connaissance de l'aléa sismique en Principauté de Monaco

Abstract : The Monaco government, being very concerned by the consideration of the seismic hazard in Principality, is initiating this study. Its objective is the contribution of scientific arguments towards the decision-makers so that they can prevent this risk in Principality most efficiently. The geomatic analyses of the finished deformation revealed new accidents, in particular the directions N100-110°E whose major role in the active tectonics of the region was also confirmed by sismotectonic. The calculation of the state of constraint of the region and the analysis of the fields of deformation put in evidence a recent change of the dynamics of our region. The parameters of the reference earthquake to be taken into account in Monaco for the application of the earthquake-resistant regulations were refined. The results of the microzoning were specified and the analysis of the Monaco archives on the earthquake Ligure of 1887 allowed to define exactly a macroseismic intensity and offered tracks to public authorities to consider the vulnerability of the former buildings.
