INFLUENCE DES ORIENTATIONS CRISTALLINES SUR LA LOCALISATION EN BANDE DE CISAILLEMENT DANS DES ALLIAGES Al-Mg SOUMIS A COMPRESSION PLANE

Abstract : The present study focuses on the influence of the crystal orientations on the shear banding occurrence, at first when it appears inside the grain, then when the grain boundary crossing is supposed to happen. The experimental approach is based on techniques which have seldom been used together : the channel-die device used to simulate the rolling, the EBSD measurements coupled with the local strain calculation, by means of images correlation on microgrids (Bornert [1996]). For the theoretical approach, the localisation is introduced as a bifurcation, and the lost of uniqueness, (Hill [1962], Rice [1976]) in the case of a rigid plastic f.c.c. crystal, on which the deformation goes by gliding on the octahedral systems according the Schmid law, and under Taylor hypothesis. The kinematics of the crystal is obtained with the large deformation formalism (Sidoroff [1982]) under a piecewise linear rate constitutive law. The good agreement between the model and the experiments is noteworthy; two frequently observed modes of localisation in shear bands must be emphasised. The first one is ensured by the combination of two coplanar systems whereas the second is realised by the combination of two codirectional systems. Otherwise, nucleation has been put in evidence within the shear bands as a sign of a thermal effect due to the high glide rate.
