Abstract : The work presented in this thesis deals with the problem of choosing the semi-finished products (SFP) to be stored in a context of high product variety. After presenting a state of the art on product variety, we have adopted an assembly to order policy to implement this variety. The question is to find the various SFP to store. We use two criteria to evaluate the various stock compositions of SFP: i) the number of references of SFP to be stored: NSFP and ii) the mean assembly time: MAT. We propose two approaches: 1) for a fixed NSFP, determine the references of SFP to store in order to satisfy the demand of the final product by minimizing the MAT. 2) Determine the number and the references of the SFP to be stored guaranteeing a fixed assembly time at the lowest costs. We proposed mathematical formulations, as well as heuristics and exact methods to solve these problems.
