Le morcellement des connaissances en physiologie : du constat à la remédiation

Intégration du paradigme de la complexité dans l'étude de la construction des liens entre différents concepts enseignés en physiologie, aux niveaux des pratiques enseignantes et des productions des élèves.

Abstract : the identification of the problem of parceling out of knowledge in physiology in 2001 in France and 2002-2003 in Lebanon has been the object of several analytical studies. Grade 7 and 10 students as well as their respective teachers apply little connection between the various physiological systems and the nervous system. The relation between all these systems and the needs of the cells of the body is generally absent. Thus, it is difficult to apply the learned concepts to resolve problems. The didactic obstacles, as well as the epistemological and psychological ones, emphasized in this research can include elements of explication for this hindrance of knowledge. However, these obstacles can be overcome if teachers were trained with complexity. Indeed, a study was conducted where in one hand a group of teachers attended a training session “the teaching of physiology according to the paradigm of complexity” where they acquired new techniques as “problem based learning” (PBL) and later applied them in classroom; and on the other hand another group of teachers didn't participate at the session. The results showed a great gap between students whose teachers attended the workshop and those who didn't. The teachers who took into account complexity taught the students to use more connections with the different concepts learned in physiology, and to have enough confidence to take more risks in order to solve additional problems. Taking in consideration both the role of affectivity in the learning process, as well as the relationship with error “free of the guilt complex of mistake” have allowed teachers and later on students to have a different approach of knowledge. They have thus given meaning to concepts they have learned.
