Les espaces publics urbains à l'épreuve des actions artistiques

Abstract : Artistic performances more and more stand as a part of urban life. Artistic performances, in particular street performances, bear a tight connection with the city, by means of direct action played on public spaces grabbed and used as a fundamental material for creation. This dissertation discusses the relationship between urban public spaces and artistic action. More precisely, it introduces the hypothesis that street performances reveal those inner qualities of urban public spaces, and that artistic actions play a peculiar role as shaping and transforming one's perception of such spaces. This research investigates the relationships between street arts and public spaces essentially through its spatial perspectives, by exploring the many links that tie urban and architectural forms, the atmosphere of the place, and street performances. It also intends to comprehend and reveal the audience's and the inhabitants' habits and modification of their behaviour and perception towards their ordinary urban environment.
