PRISE EN COMPTE DE L'HETEROGENEITE DES SURFACES CONTINENTALES DANS LA MODELISATION HYDROLOGIQUE SPATIALISEE. APPLICATION SUR LE HAUT-BASSIN DE LA SAONE

Abstract : Taken account of land surface heterogeneity is necessary to face the challenges of water resources management, both quantitatively and qualitatively. Distributed hydrological models allow to take into account the land surface and inputs heterogeneities in the water cycle modelling. The literature review about the landscape heterogeneity, conducted in the first part led to the proposition of a spatial discretization method on three nested levels, so as to adapt the description of the heterogeneity to each question. The first level uses sub-catchments organised around the river network. The second level, called hydro-landscapes, was proposed to take into account sub-catchment scale heterogeneity. We proposed a methodology, which takes into account landscape heterogeneity, data resolution and the functional scale of hydrological processes included into the modelling. The third level allows to further discretize hydro-landscapes to take into account numerical constraints. The whole methodology was illustrated using data from the upper Saône catchment. For relevant use of the spatial discretization, we tried to promote flexible hydrological models, able to be adapted to problem. In a second step, we tried to build models corresponding to the proposed principles. We used a hydrological modelling framework called LIQUID. We developed a model solving the Boussinesq equation for 2D transfer in the saturated zone. It was adapted to unstructured meshes. Several tests were conducted to validate the model. Finally, we have tackled the coupling of different processes (water transfer within the unsaturated and saturated zones and the river) through very simple examples.
