Application au cas de l'industrie automobile

Abstract : Satisfying customer needs while reducing costs is the performance objective of flow management in a supply chain. Faced with increasing consumers requirements, strong competition and quick market changes, companies are often induced to adapt their organizations in order to meet their environment development. This thesis proposes a methodology for reengineering flow control to improve the performance in a customer / supplier relation.
We study powertrain plants flow control as suppliers to vehicle plants in the automotive industry. We conduct a flow control reengineering using three stages. The first one consists in analyzing the current situation, it is the diagnostic stage. The second one deals with redefining the terms of the customer/supplier relation by using advanced demand information. The third stage consists in reengineering supplier's flow control. A major problem is addressed: locating the decoupling point, which determines the frontier between make-to-stock and make-to-order activities in a supply chain. We analyze the parameters that have an impact on the decoupling point and we propose a method to locate it.
