LES PLASMAS POUSSIÉREUX : Synthèse, Structure et Dynamique d'un Nuage de Poussières dans un Plasma

Abstract : Plasmas and dust particles coexist in many situations, either in nature (astrophysics) or in industry (microelectronics, nanotechnology). The so constituted medium is then characterized by many new phenomena. In this work, various methods for dust particle formation have been used (sputtering, reactive gases). The growth kinetics has been analyzed and especially the nanoparticle formation for industrial applications. Dust particles acquire a negative charge by capturing some plasma free electrons. This charge strongly determines the dynamics and the trapping of the dust cloud in the plasma. Thus, the structure and the behavior of the dust cloud have been studied. The variation of the electron density strongly disturbs the plasma and can give birth to a wide range of instabilities that have been characterized. Finally, the evolution of the electric charge during and after the plasma extinction has been investigated.
