Mortalité à long terme et devenir social des blessés médullaires tétraplégiques. Etudes à partir des enquêtes
Tétrafigap 1995 et 2006.

Abstract : Spinal cord injury causes irreversible damages to the victims of this trauma. Since the creation of emergency services and the expansion of rehabilitation centres, the life expectancy of this population has increased and the question of a future other than medical arises. That's why, in 1995, the Tetrafigap survey about people suffering from cervical spinal cord was conducted. In the context of this thesis, a re-examination of this population has been implemented, to analyse the long term evolution. At the same time, a study about mortality between the first and second study has been conducted.
In a first part, handicap concepts and injury specificity will be defined. The creation of the second questionnaire and the implementation of this survey‘s methodology will be presented. Then excess mortality, predictive factors and causes of death will be studied. At last, facilitators and obstacles of social participation will be determined through two examples, conjugality and employment.
