Conteneurisation et mondialisation.
Les logiques des armements de lignes régulières.

Abstract : Containerisation is the backbone of globalisation. While the study of ports remains important, attention is increasingly being drawn to the study of transport chains that are dominated by global actors. Shipping lines are playing a major role in the integration of the transport chain. But their core shipping business remains central for them. The “container logistics” has to be distinguished from the “logistics of goods”
With our data base of the Weekly Containerised Transport Capacity, we demonstrate that innovation in maritime networks remains a key element explaining the competitiveness of the major shipping lines and their hierarchy. It is demonstrated that the leading Asian shipping lines are nationally based. European carriers, on the other hand, are focussed less on their national markets and are more international in scope.
