Essays on the Size and the Redistributive Properties of Pay-As-You-Go Pension Systems

Abstract : We study the redistributive properties of Pay-As-You-Go pension systems. Firstly, we show that the intergenerational and the vertical redistribution play a signicant role for the endogenous determination of social transfers. Then, we study the impact of the instantaneous redistributivity of pension systems on capital accumulation and on welfare. Finally, we show that a pension system can be regressive if there is a signicant life expectancy differential between socioeconomic groups.
