Etude numérique de la localisation à l'aide de modèles de second gradient : Perte d'unicité et évolution de la taille de la zone localisée

Abstract : We present some numerical studies of the localization of the deformetion in shear bands in geo-materials. Local second models were used for a one dimensional problem of shear localization inside a band, and for a simulation of the excavation of a well.

First of all we carried out an analysis of one dimensional problem of shear localization inside a band using a classical quasi-fragile constitutive equation. In ordre to obtain calculation without restriction, an arc length method has been introduced for a one dimensional second gradient computation. Then, we chose to carry out some numerical experiments with a more realistic law (involving a progressive degradation).

Second, a two dimensional second gradient model was used to perform numeric simulation of excavation in the case of a quasi fragile constitutive equation. The simulations are performed on a complete well by using the two dimensional finite element code Lagamine. Since a second gradient model was used, the results obtained are objective. illustrated the loss of uniquness of the solutions and different localization patterns obtained, qualitatively similar to the rupture of wells observed in laboratories.
