Contribution à l'analyse statistique des mesures en chambre réverbérante à brassage de modes. Applications à la détermination de l'efficacité de brassage et de l'incertitude de mesure dans un contexte CEM et radiofréquences

Abstract : This thesis deals with the statistical behaviour of the measurements collected in a mode-stirred reverberation chamber (RC). At first we carry out an extensive study of distribution functions of the power and the field measurements inside a working volume, in the case of an overmoded cavity. Based on experiments, significant differences are highlighted between the ideal cavity model and the actual measurements distribution as a function of the antenna size. These results are obtained using statistical methods that are particularly well-adapted to RC measurements.
Secondly, a model is developped in order to estimate both mechanical and electronic stirring efficiency. This model is easy to implement and provides more efficient use of RC, whereas the current normative method remains insufficient in evaluating the actual number of independent samples in a measurement series. Our approach is based on statistical concepts that are largely adopted in other research areas such as finance, climatology... and is also validated by a rigorous experimental work.
Finally, some applications of these results are described in the context of radiofrequencies and electromagnetic compatibility. This work is particularly useful in optimising the experimental protocol definition in order to be consistent with the user requirements in terms of measurements uncertainty. With these results, the normative part, which deals with the calibration of an RC, can be changed in order to require more realistic limitations. Moreover, for both antenna characterization (efficiency, diversity gain...) and propagation channels simulation, our work leads to a better control of distribution functions as well as the measurement independency, which significantly improves the measurement accuracy.
