Synthèse et caractérisation photophysique de polymères fluorescents à base de polysiloxane pour la détection de composés nitroaromatiques.

Abstract : This thesis presents the study of new side-chains fluorescent polymers designed to detect
2,4-dinitrotoluene. To reach this objective, we looked for a material having a high fluorescent quantum yield, a low glass transition temperature and a decrease of the fluorescence in air charged with a small amount of nitroaromatic compound.
In a first time, photophysical properties of different 4-amino-1,8-naphthalimide derivatives were studied in solution and in solid state. These molecules display different behaviors depending on the type of the amino-group. Secondary amines show particularly good properties in solution and tertiary ones keep their properties in solid state. Afterwards fluorescent polymers were synthesized by grafting by hydrosilylation 4-amino-1,8-naphthalimide and fluorinated alcohol moieties on a polysiloxane backbone. Three different catalysts were used. Polymers with very high fluorescent quantum yield in solid state (≈ 50%) and a glass transition temperature under RT have been obtained. Energy transfers between chromophores were quantified. In solid state, excitation can visit up to 25 fluorophores during fluorescence lifetime. Consequently, significant amplification of the quenching signal can be awaited. Lastly, interaction between these polymers and 2,4-DNT were also studied. They displays at least as good properties as the 3D-PPE (the state of the art П-conjugated polymer) in term of fluorescence yield, quenching speed and reversibility.
