Méthode de Galerkin discontinue pour un modèle stratigraphique

Abstract : In this Thesis, we are interested in a mathematical problem arising from the modeling of maximal erosion rates in geological stratigraphy. A global constraint on $\partial_tu$, the time-derivative of the solution, is the main feature of this model. This leads to a non-linear pseudoparabolic equation with a diffusion coefficient which is a nonlinear function of $\partial_tu$. Moreover, the problem degenerates in order to take implicitly into account the constraint. We present a result of existence of a solution to the continuous problem. Then, a DgFem (discontinuous Galerkin finite element method) for its numerical approximation is developed. Our goal is to use the properties of piecewise constant approximation to keep implicitly the constraint.
