Intégration de la dimension spatiale au sein d'un modèle multi-agents à base de rôles pour la simulation : Application à la navigation maritime

Abstract : Although multiagent systems (MAS) are widely used for the simulation of complex systems, there is still a need for an application of MAS to dynamic applications in the geographical domain. The objective of this PhD thesis is the exploration of the modelling and computing issues related to the integration of the spatial dimension in MAS, taking the maritime environment as an experimental validation domain. We introduce an approach that extends the multiagent model towards a deeper integration of the role paradigm, and qualitative spatial reasoning as a support for the representation of the dynamic properties of ships acting in their maritime environment. Our research shows that qualitative spatial reasoning is adapted to a contextual representation of the spatial situations that are part of maritime navigation decisions. The multiagent model extended by the role paradigm also provides a flexible solution adapted to the multiple ship behaviours. The research is validated by a prototype, so-called TRANS (Tractable Role Agent prototype for concurrent Navigation Systems), that implements the contextual spatial reasoning components and multiagent concepts for the simulation of ship trajectories in a maritime environment.
