Mise en oeuvre de métamatériaux en vue d'application aux circuits microondes et aux antennes

Abstract : Structures based on metamaterials designed with metallic strips on a dielectric board, particularly the Split Ring Resonator (SRR), are studied, fabricated and their performances are measured in the X-band [8.2 GHz ; 12.4 GHz]. The dimensions of a SSR are very small compared to the wavelength. This particle has a band-stop haracteristic and shows a negative permeability in a narrow frequency band in the vicinity of its resonance. Firstly, a negative refractive index medium based on a periodic arrangement of SRRs and metallic strips, is used to enhance the performances of a patch antenna. Then, the combination of SRRs with waveguides or microstrip lines is used to emphasize on two filtering phenomena. At the end of this thesis, a new type of defected ground plane by Slot Split Ring Resonators (SSRRs) is explored. Applications for band-stop and band-pass filters and also a new type of coupler are proposed. The use of these materials offers advantages such as the reduction of weight and surface, which is benefit for their integration in an electronic system.
