Abstract : Under a project on a method of copper spraying on composite materials by torch plasma, the aim of this manuscript is to calculate the radiative properties and the transport properties for Ar/H2/Cu mixtures, temperatures ranging between 300K and 25000K, and at atmospheric pressure. Assuming LTE, the preliminary calculation of the composition allows to determine the transport coefficients and the radiative properties using three methods:

- the net emission coefficient for a homogeneous and isothermal medium constituting a rather good approximation of the radiation emitted by the hottest regions.

- the ' mean absorption coefficient ' based on a preliminary division of the whole spectrum in some intervals, the value of absorption coefficient being supposed constant in each one of them for a given temperature. This method is interesting for three reasons: its consistency with the values of the net emission coefficient in the hot regions; calculation of radiation absorption in the tepid regions of plasma or surrounding cold gas; the use of this data in computer codes of fluid engineering applied to thermal plasmas.

- method of Chapman-Enskog used to determine the transport coefficients and based on the resolution of the intégro-differential equation of Boltzmann. A critical study of the collision integrals made it possible to select a coherent set of values allowing the original calculation of the transport coefficients for our ternary mixture.

Lastly, an experimental study of the jet of plasma was also undertaken within the framework of this thesis. From methods of diagnoses by emission spectroscopy, the main aim consists to characterise the Ar/H2 plasma in the presence of copper and to determine the fundamental parameters of the discharge (temperature, number densities of the various species).
