Abstract : Our researches contribute to extend the machining feature model to aeronautical parts presenting specific machining difficulties. This feature model is able to encapsulate the required information to identify and manage the principal machining difficulties on this kind of part. From this information, we identify the difficulties related to cutting tools accessibility, the deformation of the parts under the cutting strengths, vibration risks ... which we analyze to propose an adapted machining process and a set of constraints. These constraints are used to devise the machining process plan so as to propose a machining process compatible with the identified machining difficulties. Finally, we propose some ways allowing integrating these machining constraints in design of parts in order to improve theirs machinability. A French project (RNTL USIQUICK) has been carried out for that, including aeronautical industrialists (Dassault Aviation), software developers and vendors (Dassault Système), and research laboratories: CRAN-Nancy, ENSAM-Metz, LURPA-Cachan, IRCCYN-Nantes and 3S as well as CETIM.
