La réanalyse historique comme outil de validation des théories

Abstract : In the part of the habiltation thesis which containt new work, the validity of two phonological analysis is teste againt the background of historical data. The two analyses concern the schwa/zero alternation in Germans and the intrusif r in British English.
For the German case, we show that our analysis of 1992, is confirmed by the historical data. In this analysis, the different behaviour of adjectives on the one hand and verbs and nouns on the other was analysed as the result of the existence of a adjectival morpheme consisting of a schwa. In the history og German on encounters indeed the genesis of the different behavior of adjectives.
Redargding the intrusive r, we show that Anttila and Cho's analysis in the framework of Optimality Theory suffers from serious problems in comparison with the classiqcal rule inversion analysis by Vennemann (1972): it does neither explain that the deleted and inseted segments are identical nor that their quality is precisely r (orn in a similar case in Dutch). In top of that , the specificity of the contexts of both processes is ignored.
