Le formalisme objet appliqué à l'étude de l'édifice patrimonial :
Problèmes de modélisation et d'échanges de données sur le réseau Internet

Abstract : In this work we evaluate the relevance and the usability of various computer formalisms as applied to the investigation of the architectural heritage, an application field that we characterise and derive specifications from. Our research question can be summed up in these words: is the classification paradigm that object-orientation bases on relevant when trying to describe a theoretical model of a built edifice? We define a generic methodology of description of the edifice, and develop a series of tools that exploit and evaluate the theoretical model.
We demonstrate that a priori analysis of the architectural corpus can greatly benefit to its investigation. Surveying, representations and documentation efforts then appear as processes informing the model's instances. We demonstrate that such a methodology favours a global understanding of the edifice and of its evolutions.
