Élaboration et caractérisation de films vitreux nanostructurés par voie sol-gel. Mise en évidence du transfert d'énergie entre les nanoparticules semi-conductrices de CdS ou de ZnS et les ions Eu3+

Abstract : This work concerns the elaboration and the characterization of ZrO2 planar waveguides undoped and doped with semiconducting nanoparticles and/or rare-earth ions. These guides were prepared using sol-gel methods and deposited by dip-coating technique. Optical and geometrical properties were obtained using m-lines spectroscopy and by measuring the attenuation coefficients.
Waveguide Raman spectroscopy was used to characterize the structure of these guides and to study the mechanisms accompanying the sintering as a function of annealing temperature. This study was completed using various experimental techniques such as emission spectroscopy with the Eu3+ ion used as structural probe. The influence of dopent Eu3+ ions on the sintering of the guides was also considered and a retardation of the entire process was observed in the doped samples.
Another doping using nanoparticles of CdS and ZnS was thon operated. The precursors of metals and sulphur were introduced directly into the ZrO2 sol, yielding to an in situ precipitation of the particles during heat-treatment. Their size and their emission properties were studied by UV-visible absorption as well as by emission and excitation luminescence spectroscopies.
Lastly, the energy-transfer was characterized by co-doping ZrO2 with ZnS:Eu3+. The luminescence spectroscopy of Eu3+ ions using UV excitation showed an emission increased by a factor of 42 at 10 K. Excitation spectroscopy of the Eu3+ ions confinned the existence of an energy-transfer by the emergence of a band related to the absorption of the particles.
