Contribution à une méthodologie de conception modulaire : modélisation de la diversité dans les familles de produits.

Abstract : The here presented works, are contributions to the product family design. These works fundamentally take place in the Integrated Engineering domain or Concurrent Engineering and in particular in the field of modular design of products family, there are a results of previous works developed in the LAB by the Assembly Team.
This thesis presents a model of products family founded on modularity concepts, graph grammars and matrix transformations.
In chapter 1, we present the concepts and the problematic linked to the new shapes and organization design as well as the orientation of our works.
Chapter 2 presents the concepts linked to the modular architecture. Principles or products family architecture are proposed.
Chapter 3 uses graph grammars to model products family. This tool presents both advantages of a mathematical formulation and a graphical representation. Its choice is justified because it puts in light the complex linkages between modules and family components through the variants derivation. The development and the application of the model on an industrial case study demonstrate the potential of the graph grammars.
Chapter 4 contributes to thinking on complexity in design through the proposal of several matrix transformations. From a structural analysis of products families, we propose decomposition matrix linking functional needs with generic components. We show how to structure technological solutions associated to the functions in diagonal unit matrix. Every unit is looked as a module of a products family and allows to group the technological solutions. This representation allows to translate the change from the functional area to the organic area.
