Contribution à l'étude de fonctions optiques à base d'amplificateurs optiques à semi-conducteurs pour la régénération des signaux de télécommunication à très haut débit

Abstract : In this thesis work, we present several studies on signal improvement for high speed optical transmissions. Pulse shape extinction-ratio improvement should lead to stabilize optical time division multiplexed (OTDM) signals. Nonlinear optical gates use in “point to point” transmissions and optical network cross-connects should lead to regenerate optical data signal without electrical conversion. During the thesis, we particularly focused on two main subjects:
- Pulse reshaping and extinction ratio improvement using four wave mixing in semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOA).
- Design, modelling and characterization of two optical functions based on semiconductor optical amplifiers for optical regeneration at 10 Gbit/s : Dual-Stage of SOA and a SOA based nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM-SOA). Both theoretical results and system characterisations are reported in this manuscript.
