Modélisation des caractéristiques de surface d'une chaussée en condition hivernale en fonction des conditions météorologiques

Abstract : During winter, the presence of snow or ice on road can have serious consequences on traffic. With the aim to serve as a decision-making tool, a model simulating the behaviour of a snow layer on road has been developed. The model is the coupling of the models ISBA (a soil model) and CROCUS (a snow model). This models, developed by Météo-France, were previously adapted to simulate the particular conditions encountered on roads. The model was validated using a comprehensive experimental campaign on the experimental site of the Col de Porte (1320 m, Isère, France). The validation was done using observed meteorological data, then using the SAFRAN analysed data. The forecasts were good on the experimental site and the model was spatialized over France with a 8x8 km resolution. The 2004/2005 winter, with a lot of snowfalls in France was simulated. The validation was done using road weather stations and Météo-France stations.
