Abstract : The Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (SZ) effect is the distortion of the cosmic microwave background (CMB) spectrum due to the inverse Compton scattering of CMB photons off electrons in the intra-cluster medium. Although being know since the late sixties, this effect has barely been used so far; the exploitation of many instruments is currently beginning or will soon begin, allowing the largest cluster surveys ever to be created. However, the use of SZ galaxy cluster surveys as cosmological probes imply the combination of these data with X-ray observations. In order to estimate the capacities of several SZ and X-ray instruments and the characteristics of the resulting catalogs, I built a model for these two kinds of signal, constrained by a large number of X-ray observations. This model allows to simulate realistic observation programs. As an example of the applications that can be done thanks to this model, I first compared the properties of the Planck and ROSAT catalogs and, on the other hand, estimated the capabilities of XMM-Newton satellite to follow-up the hottest and most distant clusters among those discovered by Planck, i.e. the most cosmologically relevant ones.
