Lentilles stratifiées et sources réelles associées - Analyses théoriques et validations expérimentales en ondes millimétriques

Abstract : Some gradient index lenses exhibit many interesting properties (focalization, multibeam, broadband behavior, etc.).
Among these lenses, the hemispherical Half Maxwell Fish-Eye (HMFE) lens has not been investigated thoroughly. To deepen the knowledge of this lens, both conception and analysis tools have been developed in this thesis.
An optimization method of the gradient index discretization has been proposed and applied to both HMFE and Luneburg lenses. This method allows to choose the stratified lens parameters and it can be easily extended to any dielectric or magnetic radial distribution.
The main part of this thesis is dedicated to the development of two computing codes, using the so-called mode matching technique based on spherical wave functions.
The first code gives access to a fast analysis of spherically and hemispherically stratified lenses of any size associated with any real source. The second one is formulated to take into account stratified structures of arbitrary shape with a possibility to add metallic structures. This method is applied to the study of axisymmetric scatterers.
From an application point of view, the focalization performances of HMFE lens antennas are investigated and compared to those of Luneburg lenses. The off-axis performances of this lens are also quantified and a reconfigurable HMFE lens antenna is presented. These performances are validated by HMFE lens antenna characterizations in millimeter wave.
