Modélisation et simulation en trois dimensions d'un réseau fibreux en vue de prédire ses propriétés physiques

Abstract : Numerous types of commercial pulps are available on the market among which paper manufacturers make there choice according to economical criteria as well as papermaking ability. Papermaker's expertise consists in choosing appropriate raw materials and performing adapted treatments.
In view of getting a better comprehension of the influence of fibre morphology upon paper properties, we developed a new computational tool which generates a fibre network whose structure resembles to that of a laboratory paper. Moreover, with this software, a user can manipulate and visualise the network. The main structure properties and tensile strength are computed. A ”Lattice-Boltzmann” method was used to assess the value of the permeability of the structure. All the development stages were validated through experimental work.
