Abstract : Tracking, or camera pose determination, is the main technical challenge innumerous applications in Augmented Reality.
In this work, we consider a plane-based system and we propose various improvements of the system in order to get a better accuracy in pose computation as well as a goo perception of the augmented scenes.
Our contributions are twofold:
- Pose computation processes commonly exhibit some fluctuations and lack of precision in the estimation of the motion parameters which lead to unpleasant
visual impression of the augmented scene. We have proposed to use model selection with nested motion models to reduce fluctuations. This method is efficient and allow the drift to be considerably reduced.

- This work confronts some theoretical camera models to reality and evaluates the suitability of these models for effective augmented reality (AR). It analyses what level of accuracy can be expected in real situations using a particular camera model and how robust the results are against realistic calibration errors.
