J. Etude-de-l-'effet-photothermique, L'effet photothermique correspondàcorrespondà la dilatation du miroir induite par l'absorption delumì ere dans les couches diélectriques qui forment le miroir. Ce mécanisme transforme les fluctuations de l'intensité du champélectromagnétiquechampélectromagnétique absorbé en fluctuations de longueur et est donc responsable d'un bruitàbruità prendre en compte dans l'´ etude de la sensibilité des mesures interférométriques. En particulier, du fait de la réduction du bruit thermique attendue dans les futures générations d'antennes gravitationnelles , les bruits thermoélastiques deviendront dominants, qu'il s'agisse des effets liés aux fluctuations intrinsèques de température dans le miroir, ou du bruit photothermique induit par l'absorption de lalumì ere. La compréhension de ces effets revêt une grande importance, notamment pour le choix des matériaux qui constitueront les miroirs de ces détecteurs. Le bruit photothermique n'a encore jamaisétéjamaisété observé directement, mais l'´ equipe de Florence a mis enévidenceenévidence expérimentalement les dilatations résultant de l'absorption d'un faisceau modulé en intensité, Ils ont ainsí etudié sa dépendance avec la fréquence de modulation [31], en mesurant un effet différentiel entre deux cavités absorbant des puissances lumineuses différentes, 2005.
