Transgression et institution,
un paradoxe artistique : 1980-2000

Abstract : Artistic modernity has that of peculiar whom it often allow one subversive or transgressive "aura" with works which it sees emerging. That this evaluation is established on sharp (practical critic of art) or that it takes form with hindsight (practical of the historian of art), it seems in most cases a criterion impossible to circumvent to which any work must answer positively, sometimes even with the risk of the anachronism. For a number of observers, recent collaborations between the artists and the institution takes the form of an exploitation of art by the political power. According to this objection, any artist who takes part in the institutional activities becomes suspect, with stronger reason when the artist claims a transgressive form of art. However, it is noticed that a many artists continue to claim a transgressive position, attitude which is not without arising numbers of new problems.
