Synthèse et auto-assemblage de copolymères amphiphiles en étoile de type "miktoarm"

Abstract : The aim of this work is the study of the influence of architecture of block copolymers on the self-assembly properties in solution and in bulk. First, novels AB2 amphiphilic miktoarm stars -with a common hydrophobic block A of polystyrene and different hydrophilic blocks B of poly(acrylic acid), poly(glutamic acid) and poly(ethylene oxide)- were elaborated by using an original synthetic approach, based on the combination of « living/controlled » polymerisations and chain-end modification reactions. Then, in aqueous dilute solution we compared the self-assembly behaviours of amphiphilic miktoarm stars PS-b-(PAA)2 and PS-b-(PGA)2 with those of linear diblock copolymers of the same molecular weight and composition. We also studied the effect of two external stimuli on the behaviour of the self-assembled objects: the ionic strength and the pH. Finally, we studied the self-organization properties in bulk of three families of block copolymers: one “coil-coil” system PS-b-(PAA)n=1 ;2 and two “rod-coil” systems PS-b-(PGA)n=1 ;2 and PS-b-(PBLG)n=1 ;2.
