Abstract : Questionning the frame crisis compells to define rigorously the notion of frame. This crisis expresses itself as a doubt : is it possible to analyse art in a time when the definition of art is itself problematical ? Malevich, his work and life, is an example because he bears in hisself the marks of the contradictions of his time and because the latter started several phases of crisis, still obvious now.
Malevich was one of the firsts who proposed frameworks in oder to understand a " language of art " (The additional element, 1927).
A material frame changes itself in a framework, a " frame of reference " according to Nelson Goodman. His theory (Languages of art, 1968) is here considered as that of the modeling frame.The frame crisis in takes back to the engine of creation. All crisis that have been diagnosed on various levels - speech, work, place, artist, look - share a part in the opening of new visions and, in a wider sense, in creation itself.
